At one point or another, people will want to replace their old, lackluster and energy inefficient windows with a newer model. There are different reasons why you may want to upgrade your windows. You may want to choose a model that lets more light through or, on the contrary, a window made of glass that refracts the light.

Alternatively, it may happen that you want to renovate your home completely and the old windows simply do not fit in the new dйcor. However, regardless of the reasons, the first step is always the same: taking the measurements. Measuring the size of your new window panes correctly is crucial, as choosing one that is too small will require modifying the walls in order to account for their size, while a window that is too large will not fit into the frame.

However, assessing the size of your new windows is a fairly easy task and all you need for it is a measuring tape. In order to measure the window accurately, it is advisable to start with their height. There are three measurements that need to be performed for the height. First, you need to extend the tape between the top left corner to the bottom left corner and note down the value. You will need to repeat the process two more times, once for the middle upper part to the middle bottom part and again for the right upper corner to the bottom left corner. If the measurements differ, you need to choose the lowest value obtained.

Afterwards, you will need to measure the width of the frame. Similar to the height measuring process, you will need to take three measurements and pick the smallest value obtained. Therefore, you need to measure the distance from the left upper corner to the right upper corner, the distance between the middle right side to the middle left side and the distance between the bottom left side to the bottom left side. Once you have all these values noted down, you need to add a quarter of an inch as error margin to both height and width and now, you are ready to go shopping for new windows!
